This is a fabulous antique Victorian Civil War era dress fashioned of a silk brocade. It is black in color. The bottom sweep measures 130". The dress is for the most part handstitched. There is 1 seam with machine stitching, but this may have been an open seam that was closed at a later time. There is cartridge pleating at the waistline, and the dress has a front hook and eye closure. It is lined in brown polished cotton. This dress has some boning. It has piped armhole seams and underarm deterioration. You will have to gusset the underarms to repair... there is no silk left there. There is jet beading on the bottom of the sleeves. The silk on the bodice front does have tearing, It is not shatter; but stress tears. The skirting has 3 clusters of holes and a few tears. Waistline is 23". Bust is 33" Max. waistline to hemline measures 42".
